PAGE 2 of 2009 TRIP

After a great shore lunch Sherie gets her mojo going again with a nice smallmouth!

I'm still in the game with this smallmouth. The smallmouth bass in Lac La Croix are just tough fighters!

Heeeerrreees Sherie. She is just killing the smallmouth on this trip.

We are leaving the docks for our last day of fishing. Behind us you can see where the four aircraft are tied down. Behind them is an area for the guide and visitor boat tie-downs. The building you see is the office, some living quarters, pilot lounge and maintenace area. This is not an inexpensive operation.

It's another beautiful day and happiness is a big northern.

Happiness is another big northern.

With big northerns like this around the walleyes get hard to find!

By doggie ... Sherie will have walleye for lunch!

Sherie with a nice walleye she caught up by Twin Falls

And I have a walleye for lunch!

We are at our favorite spot on Lac La Croix - Twin Falls.

Fresh cooked walleye, pork and beans, potatoes, corn, fresh sliced onions - don't tell our cardiologists about this tough life!!

While Sherie was tromping through the woods I was whipping the water white with froth. I took a Mepps Spinner, with a squirrel tail on it, with me to Lac La Croix. I had caught a bunch of fish on that same bait in 1964, when John Franta and I portaged into Lac La Croix from Crane Lake, MN. I caught this 20" smallmouth on the last day to beat Sherie's 18 1/2" smallmouth.

We fed the eagle a carp, just like we did last year. The eagles wait in the trees nearby to take any fish you will throw to them. They have babies close by that want to be fed also and they do make a racket when momma brings them a fish. It's a wonderful event to witness.

We bid goodbye to Campbell's Cabins. Ryan is waving the wings to his wife and baby. They live on Martini Island, which is just below. It's been another great trip. Jay and Sheryl Handberg are super hosts. Call them at (800) 238-4224 for more information - their website -- CAMPBELLS CABINS
